Research Questions

For this study, we decided to focus on India and Colombia. We wanted to investigate if there are patterns in information sharing behaviors across both the countries and if it is possible to control this pattern. Consequently, we narrowed the focus of the study to four research questions. Additionally, we operated from the hypothesis that the current WhatsApp interface facilitates irresponsible information sharing behavior.

RQ1: Would changes in the WhatsApp interface ‘nudge’ users towards more responsible information sharing behavior for our proposed solution?

RQ2: Is there a correlation between age and fake news sharing behavior?

RQ3: Is there a relationship between general news sharing behavior and fake news sharing behavior?

RQ4: Is there a correlation between familiarity with WhatsApp and fake news sharing behavior?

H1: The current WhatsApp interface facilitates irresponsible information sharing behavior.
